It’s a huge day for information pertaining to the latest Battlefield release. Today’s leak on r/battlefield6 gives us news of the expected reveal date, the ultimate release date, and an insight into Battlefield’s Warzone challenger!
The long awaited release is now all but confirmed by EA to get it’s very own Battle Royale, with fans also looking forward to lots of other exciting new additional features. EA dipped their toes in BR with their Battlefield Fireteam mode, but it never gained traction, most likely due to being locked behind a paywall. We don’t think they’ll be making the same mistake with this upcoming release, albeit this is yet to be confirmed.
Dr. Disrespect has speculated that harnessing the power of the Battlefield engine we should expect a “pretty incredible” Battle Royale from EA this year. According to The Doc, “EA and Activision have always gone back and forth competing directly in the FPS genre”, with Warzone riddled with glitches at best, and cheaters at worst, it’s about time Battle Royale fans got a true competing title to play as Warzone has largely taken the crown for the last year.
Todays leak appears to confirm there will be up to 128 players per server, lower then Warzone’s 150 player count, and much lower than Warzone’s rumoured increase to 250 players in one server, but we think this can be somewhat forgiven, given what we’re expecting from the upcoming Battlefield title’s next gen destructible environments.
This leak is not verified, but a moderator on Reddit, has posted to say that proof the leak is from a source who is “close to the game” has been provided.

Hey everyone! I was able to have some of my questions answered by someone on the inside (mod verified the credentials) and I’m here to share some of it with you.
Battle Royale is confirmed
Up to 128 players, although gamemodes that support this don’t seem to be the primary target
Confirmed maps: Wake Island, Metro, Locker
Destruction will behave like the Bad Company series, focused on the smaller scale (think digging holes with grenade launchers). However, there will be large-scale destruction events such as taking down buildings, although I think they are moving away from “levolution” and making them less scripted.
Core gameplay: this is probably the biggest news we have so far. Essentially the game (no official title yet) is going to be a hub for most, if not all, previous Battlefield titles. You will be able to boot up servers playing exclusively 1942, or even have the option to play with settings so one team has access to 1942 weapons/vehicles and the other team has access to BF3 weapons/vehicles. An example given was teams fighting Panzers vs M1 Abrams. Additionally, these settings include core gameplay mechanics, such as not being able to sprint with 1942 settings and not being able to go prone with Bad Company settings. I’m not sure how this affects balancing issues.
EDIT: To clarify, the game is still ‘BF6′ in that it is an all new near-future game. The hub aspect is just one feature of the game. I suppose I could’ve chosen better words than “core gameplay” but it does sound like a lot of time and energy is going into the development of the mashup and subsequently would expect a lot of utilization. Some of y’all have compared it to the MCC and I think that’s a decent way to look at it, but I’m not sure if we’re getting full-blown games remastered/ported, or just the ability to use different games’ assets/mechanics.
We’ve also had news from Twitter leaker @THE_KOLIBRI1 indicating that we should be expecting a teaser and reveal trailer between 11th May and 21st June. …and for those of you that don’t read Morse Code; launch day is the 25th October!
