Warzone Season 4 Reloaded: the short version

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded launches on 25 June 2026, and the Warzone headline is simple: Champion’s Quest returns, Rebirth Island gets its summer look, and Squad Gun Game gives Resurgence squads a proper arcade scrap. The update is not a full weapon-balance patch yet — it is a mid-season content drop — so treat this as your roadmap for what to play first, not a loadout rebuild.

Source of truth: the official Call of Duty Season 04 Reloaded announcement, published 22 June 2026. Cross-checked against Dot Esports and GameSpot coverage — links at the bottom.

Champion’s Quest is back in Core Battle Royale

The biggest Warzone competitive hook is the return of Champion’s Quest. Call of Duty describes it as a qualification-first challenge: earn your shot, then complete a difficult multi-step mission that can end the match explosively and mark your squad as one of the best in the lobby.

That means two things for normal players. First, Core Battle Royale lobbies should feel spicier once qualified teams start chasing the objective. Second, if your squad is actually going for it, expect every phase of the match to revolve around tempo, information, and keeping the team alive rather than just padding kills.

Rebirth Island loses the snow, not the new POIs

Rebirth Island is moving back into summer. The official blog says the winter elements are being removed and the island is returning to a lusher look, but the Season 2 additions remain. That includes Turbine north of Prison, Outpost east of Stronghold, and other smaller map changes from the winter refresh.

Good news if you liked the newer routes but were done with the frost: the layout does not appear to be getting wiped back to old Rebirth. It is more of a visual and seasonal refresh than a full map reset.

Squad Gun Game turns Resurgence into a race

The new limited-time mode is Squad Gun Game, played by ten squads of three across a rotating Resurgence map playlist covering Rebirth Island, Haven’s Hollow, and Fortune’s Keep. Every elimination earns your squad a point, and your team needs five eliminations to advance to the next weapon tier. First squad through all ten weapon tiers wins.

The rule set is built for pace: ammo reserves and armour plates are unlimited, eliminated players respawn after ten seconds, and surviving squadmates are pinged when a player goes down. Translation: hide-and-hold play should get punished, and coordinated third-party pushes should be everywhere.

Buy Back Quads returns later in the season

Call of Duty also lists Buy Back Quads as a returning Weekend LTM later in Season 4 Reloaded. No complicated twist here: it is the familiar squad format where cash becomes your safety net and wipes are harder to force while players can buy themselves back.

If your squad is less fussed about the Champion’s Quest grind, this is probably the easier casual queue to watch for once it rotates in.

What this means for your next drop

If you want the most meaningful Warzone session on update day, start with Core Battle Royale and see how Champion’s Quest changes lobby behaviour. If you are playing with two mates and want something faster, Squad Gun Game is the clear first stop: unlimited ammo, quick respawns, squad pings, and ten weapon tiers should make it the most immediate new mode in the drop.

For Resurgence regulars, the Rebirth Island change is more comfort than shock. The snow goes, the newer POIs stay, and the island should feel brighter without forcing everyone to relearn rotations from scratch.
