Verdansk and Rebirth Island sit out the start of Warzone Season 1, then come back later
By TourneyTime ·
Are Verdansk and Rebirth Island in Warzone Season 1?
Not at launch. When Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live, battle royale runs on Hajin and Resurgence runs on Zodiac. Call of Duty’s Season 1 Warzone blog lists Verdansk and Rebirth Island as in-season maps. Both come back later in Season 1, but no date has been given.
This changes what we reported in October. Infinity Ward reportedly said on The Ward Room that Verdansk and Rebirth Island would stay alongside the new maps from day one. Call of Duty’s official Season 1 posts say otherwise, and we’ve gone with those. Dexerto and Timesaver read the official posts the same way. At least one other guide still says both maps stay in rotation from the start. We think it’s out of date, but we’ll keep checking.
When Season 1 starts
Call of Duty has now confirmed the time: midnight ET on Friday 6 November, which is 9pm PT on Thursday 5 November, on all platforms (Call of Duty). In the UK that’s 5am on Friday 6 November, not the 5pm we’d estimated from past seasons.
| Time zone | Season 1 start |
|---|---|
| Pacific (PT) | 9pm, Thursday 5 November |
| Eastern (ET) | Midnight, Friday 6 November |
| UK (GMT) | 5am, Friday 6 November |
| Central Europe (CET) | 6am, Friday 6 November |
| Sydney (AEDT) | 4pm, Friday 6 November |
Call of Duty gave the ET and PT times. We worked out the others from them.
The Season 1 map line-up
| Map | Mode | When |
|---|---|---|
| Hajin | Battle royale | At launch |
| Zodiac | Resurgence | At launch |
| Verdansk | Battle royale | Later in Season 1 (no date) |
| Rebirth Island | Resurgence | Later in Season 1 (no date) |
Call of Duty’s Season 1 mode list puts Hajin and Verdansk under battle royale, and Zodiac and Rebirth Island under Resurgence (Call of Duty).
Hajin and Zodiac
Hajin is the DMZ map, now coming to battle royale. Dexerto and Timesaver both say it has 13 major points of interest, the same count as our Hajin DMZ guide. Dexerto also reports a new Gulag for the map. For more on Hajin, read Hajin is Warzone’s next map.
Zodiac is the Resurgence map from the Modern Warfare 4 beta. Call of Duty describes it as built around the DRC Advanced Systems drone assembly and manufacturing headquarters in South Korea. Dexerto and Timesaver count 10 points of interest.
What’s new when Verdansk comes back
Call of Duty says the returning Verdansk adds Signal Station, the Grazna-7 Launch Complex, the Overlook skyscraper and Drone Labs. Dexerto reports that Rebirth Island comes back with its familiar prison plus new waterways and hidden passages. Call of Duty hasn’t said that itself yet, so treat it as a report.
Still unknown: when either map returns, whether they get permanent playlists or join a rotation, and why Activision is holding them back at launch.

Sources we check
The map line-up, the in-season status of Verdansk and Rebirth Island, and the new Verdansk points of interest come from Call of Duty’s Season 1 Warzone blog. The start time comes from Call of Duty’s Season 1 announcement. Dexerto and Timesaver, both published on 2 November 2026, confirm the launch maps and in-season returns, and give the point-of-interest counts. The Gulag and Rebirth Island waterway details come from Dexerto alone, so we’ve labelled them as reported.
